Kick-back

It's amazing how fast that drive goes when there's good conversation to be had. :) Today was a very easy, kick back day as far as our workload. I worked a position I haven't worked before and between 2 people, we had a lot of down time to do random things and enjoy our lunchtime.

I packed my favorite salad for lunch. (I need to come up with a name for this thing)

Guess what! I brought my camera for sure today and then.... it had no SD card. Seriously! I have a problem!

I ate my lunch while I whiled away the time checking email and chatting. (off the clock of course!) :)

Later in the evening we were supposed to cover the desk in the office and one of the perks was free Taco Soup from the cafeteria. We topped it off with tortilla strips and cheese. It was amazing and turned out to be my dinner.

At quitting time I got a text from Ashley saying that I wasn't going to be happy with her about something... I was anxious.

Then, there they were sitting in the front seat of her car. Two slices of magnificent cheesecake topped with cherry. I put it in the fridge when I got home and then, I couldn't wait, I had to eat it.

I'm anxious to get back to using a real camera and better lighting for these pictures. They just don't do justice to the great flavors that are represented.

Tomorrow is FRIDAY! WOO! Late shift start tomorrow which means I'll be working later too. It's actually not a bad shift but I do like getting off early evening even if it means getting up at 3 or 5.

I'm off to bed. Hopefully this weekend I'll get some serious cleaning done and finally cross some errands off my list.

Goodnight!

Clinically Oriented

Today was my last day of scheduled orientation for my new job. Today was clinical training/orientation. Most of the time orientations are a necessary nuisance that you grin and bear. However, I would be lying if I didn't say that today's orientation wasn't eye-opening. I think what stuck with me most of all was a confirmation of my desire to help others in my career. Maybe that sounds corny but I really felt a strong driving force to be everything and do everything I possibly can for every patient/client I ever encounter. It's a good feeling.

Now that I've shared the deep stuff... here's the shallow stuff:

They served a wide variety of breakfast treats in the morning and they stayed there through late morning. It made for easy and very unhealthy snacks.

I had a poppy seed bagel (I loved how they were baked in parchment squares like this!) and some fruit. Then some hot tea because those conference rooms are always so cold and I never remember to bring a jacket.

Once again I thought I didn't have my camera... but I did. However, by the time I realized it, it was too late. Had to use my phone. Awful!
There was a nice little bagel shop right down the corner so I checked it out for lunch. It was ok but for the price, I wasn't all that impressed. The salad was very nice and fresh though. Always a plus.

I ordered a roasted chicken sandwich that came simply with tomato and lettuce. Ice tea to sip on too.

Pretty easy day. Tomorrow I start late and work late. Bummer. Never thought I'd be one to prefer waking up early to start work. But... I don't like fighting for parking or staying late. At least I won't be driving into the sun both ways. It's seriously a major problem when you're my height. The visor is essentially useless.

Ashley and I are carpooling tomorrow, my turn to drive. Yay! I don't have to ride alone.

Have a great Thursday! We're over the halfway mark!

SPA-rvelous!

I had another day at the spa! Don't get the wrong idea. This is not something I do on a regular or even yearly basis. However, Laura was in town and raring to use her gift cards so we all scheduled treatments. It was a spa-rvelous way to spend our Saturday.

We tried to order lunch in for the day so that we wouldn't have to leave but they were all booked for lunch so we went out. The spa is nestled in a very large outdoor mall so we walked around the corner and had Corner Bakery for lunch. Of course we all way overdid it on food. Kim and I split a Chicken P..... something pasta dish

and this Grilled chicken panini that had... BASIL and tomatoes. :)
Both were excellent!

Then back to the spa we went. We enjoyed just about every amenity they offer. Spa, mist room, (no sauna or steam room for us), the relaxing room and the visiting room as well as an AMAZING shower. I wanted to stay in there forever! The conditioner they offered left a lot to be desired but that is a very inconsequential blemish on a wonderful day.

Those black doors may not look like much but they do something magical. They swallow reality as you enter them. Beyond those doors there's nothing to stress about or worry about. Unfortunately, reality doesn't fall into a black hole. It's waiting to hit you full in the face just as soon as you exit. ;)

It was a very successful girl's day. I can't wait to do it again. :)

Tomorrow is Monday and I have to be at work again. Where do the weekends go?

I haven't packed lunch or planned breakfast for tomorrow so my meals are a mystery...

Have a great Monday!
